Bringing the Essence of Kyoto Life to the Heart of Taipei
The birth of Kyomachi Yamamoto-ya is more than just a beginning; it is a story of "transporting the everyday soul of Kyoto into Taipei."
Nestled within the Rongjin Gorgeous Time—a meticulously restored cultural park that once served as government dormitories during the Japanese colonial era—our space breathes within the original timber architecture. Our vision was never to create just another "Japanese restaurant," but to authentically recreate the living pulse of a traditional Kyoto Machiya (townhouse) within these historic walls.
“Kyomachi” (京町) symbolizes the timeless everyday scenery found along the streets of Kyoto.
“Yamamoto-ya” (山本屋) carries the warmth and artisanal integrity of a traditional Japanese family lineage.
Together, the name evokes the spirit of a multi-generational shop tucked away in a quiet Kyoto alley, preserved through time.
